World's Biggest Welcome Arrives on Hvar

The town of Vrboska provided the welcoming committee for Croatia's innovative tourism project on May 25 as the World's Biggest Welcome arrived by kayak from Bol, paddling under the stone bridges of Little Venice's canal.

The 2500km route has been designed in such a way as to spell the word Welcome from the air, and the 62 day project travels the length of the Croatian coast using whatever adventure tourism mode of transport available while highlight the country's natural beauty and diverse tourism offer.

From Vrboska, the Welome team transferred to Milna, from where they paddled into Hvar Town to be greeted by the Mayor. More information on the Welcome visit to Hvar and subsequent legs (Hvar to Loviste, Loviste to Korcula and Korcula to Peljesac). The project is scheduled to finish on June 3 with a kayak leg from Mljet to Dubrovnik.

With thanks to Luka Tambaca for the above photograph. Check out www.welcome.hr for some of the best photos of Croatia ever taken.
