The Bays of Hvar: Pribinje, Vira on the Pellegrin Peninsula
One of the effects of long-term living on Hvar is taking for granted the beauty of the place. If there is a stunning vista at every turn, it becomes hard to appreciate the beauty of another amazing sea view after a while.
In order to address some complacency, here is the first in a series of pictures to capture the beauty of the bays on Hvar. This picture, the pretty bay on Pribinje on the Pellegrin Peninsula, north of Hvar Town, is perhaps one of the most picturesque and desirable on the island.
The bay, home to perhaps a dozen houses, typifies the private and peaceful nature of many holiday houses in hidden coves, a tradition that dates back to Roman times. The Pelligrin peninsula is only a two-minute drive from Hvar Town, the perfect escape from the party atmosphere of one of Croatia's hottest summer destinations.
