After Easter and Before the Tourist Season: Relaxed Hvar at its Best.

One of the nicest times of year on Hvar is the period between Easter and the start of the season proper. Easter, with the Za Krizem procession and family gatherings of celebration, is a busy time, and many restaurants and tourist shops open for the first time.

Once Easter has passed, however, the good weather continues and memories of winter have long subsided. There is a relaxed feeling of the calm before the impending tourist storm. Above (and apologies for the poor quality of photograph - taken from a mobile), an artist sets up her easel in front of the main square in Jelsa, spending the late morning capturing a tranquil Dalmatian scene on canvas.
